This place is tiny. So tiny that I think that they might want to choose between being a restaurant or a bar. If you go to dine when there's a number of people around the bar, you might find yourself up close and personal with a stranger hovering over your table. I'm not sure of the number of seats, but I think there may be seating for less than twenty at tables. Their menu is limited. I had a seafood pasta dish on my first visit. It was bland but okay. I chose a lobster sandwich on my second visit. It was not so fresh and also just okay. Service was acceptable. The bar appears to get a lot of business from people in their late twenties to early thirties. Overall, the atmosphere is upbeat and slightly loud. I'd suggest it for a quick drink when you're in the neighborhood.

The best oysters and great atmosphere. Drinks made by Justin and oysters patiently chucked by Justin.
(5)Sahil K.
Good raw bar in the area Good oyster selection. Should clean the shrimps before serving them :) Entrees are ok, not that special. Could work on adding more flavor to the scallops.

While I didn't have a chance to enjoy the food on my visit (I had already eaten), I did fully enjoy the bar. The staff was amazingly friendly in the brief time I visited. They introduced themselves by name, recommended beverages and food specials and made a point to welcome everyone. I will totally return here the next opportunity I have to visit E.G.

Great place. It is on the small side but that is what makes it great. Very cozy. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Oysters were very fresh. Love this place and will be back soon. Rivals any seafood restaurant in Providence.

My husband and I really enjoy dining here. The service is always attentive without being overbearing, and the food is great. Last night we had the broiled oysters to start and they were superb--cooked perfectly and just the right amount of cheese. We then split a salad and it came out on two separate plates; the servings were quite generous. For an entree, my husband had the haddock which came with potatoes and asparagus. His only complaint was that the asparagus was salty. Everything else he said was delicious. I asked the waiter if I could have the sautéed calamari (an appetizer) over the linguine (part of another entree). He said it was not a problem and asked if I wanted it with marinara sauce. I did. The resulting dish was so good--the calamari was tender and the sauce not too heavy at all. My only complaint is that we ate so much great food is that we didn't have room for dessert. We can always count on a great meal here.

First time here and will be back again. This is the absolute best meal I have had in a long time. I eat out habitually and thought I there was nothing that would impress me...I was wrong. I had the lobster scallop risotto special (picture uploaded with post) and it was THE best! If you are in town be sure to check this place out!
(5)Doreen C.
Jordan our waiter was fantastic. Food was great. Only issue I had was the oysters were terrible. So tiny for the price. Would highly recommend except For the oysters
(4)Bianca C.
Amazing food amazing service...came here on a whim and so glad that I did the escargot and the raw bar was simply to die for...the snail salad and crab cakes were also amazing....come here and enjoy!

Started with Jens special concoction something with blueberries, limes and other tasty goodness. She was very knowledgeable regarding the three local oysters. The gentleman who was shucking for other guests was occupied, so Jen stepped up and shucked my oysters with a deft hand of a true professional. Jen was very attentive to all guests at her bar and all server requests. I am only here for another few days, but I will try to be back ASAP.

So. I'm excited to report that my review of this spot has certainly improved. I've gone twice in the last couple of weeks and it's been great! Great cocktails, delicious oysters, lobster bisque, sticky calamari, and the list goes on. Definitely worth stopping by for buck a shuck too!
(4)Shannon S.
Don't be fooled by the modest interior of this little gem. We stopped in not know much, and left raving. The oysters were delicious! I had the spinach salad with grilled shrimp, my husband had the lobster roll. It's now on our top list of lobster rolls! Even the sweet potato fries were amazing. Fab find.
(4)Aline C.
Had amazing fresh oysters! Lobster Mac and Cheese is definitely a dish which I will order again. Fancy Manhattan is a delicious drink... Specially if you like bourbon.
(5)Tom W.
Gotta have the "buck a shuck" oysters at least weekly. Always great. And of course, the "Tommy Topper" margaritas are the best in town. (named after my recipe). The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful.
(5)Jonathan R.
Good food, good drinks, and an appropriate environment. I also found the service/servers here very professional! I like going to places where you get paid attention to but not over whelmed by the staff. Calamari is spot on too!
(5)Nosaj R.
Surprised that this was bad. My friend and I ordered the Stuffies, Sticky Calarmi, and Lobster Bisque. The Stuffies didn't taste like any quahog. Tasted like meat, onions, celery, and salt. Definitely salty. The Sticky Calamari was soaked in the sauce they used. They should just do a light coating instead. The Lobster Bisque was.......... unappealing. It was wtered down. Not nice and creamy like it should be. This was disappointing that everything we ordered didn't seem authentic at all especially for being a restaurant in Rhode Island which is known for good seafood. Cross this one off my list and on to the next one.
(2)Megan D.
Amazing food, drinks & service .... One of the best places I've been in Rhode Island. I'm a picky eater & consider myself a foodie. Excellent food ... We had raw oysters, oysters rock, oyster po ' boy & Cajun shrimp over risotto with red peppers & olives ... Everything was excellent! I had a pineapple passion martini ... Tasty & strong :) nice wine selection as well. Ask for Jordan! He's awesome!
(5)Nik T.
This place is great!!! Friendly staff, delicious food and a decent selection of beers and wines. Stay away from the house wine and you're golden.
(4)Scott M.
Well we had to return the Clams and linguine, can't even figure out what was wrong with it but it was just wrong. Lobster bisque was ok, ate most of it. The bisque at BWI airport is better? Staff was apathetic towards sending back food at best. No pride.
(2)Tiffany T.
Literally 5 stars. Fast, professional service that is not "stuffy" ;-) The specials were amazing and food tasted great. Very happy with the generous portions. I had the calamari as an app and it was right on point. My dinner was a special seared scallops on a bed of of lobster risotto- amazing!!! Can't wait to go back!
(5)Paul Z.
Went there last night with 6 family members. Started off with many appetizers including the sticky calamari lots of oysters - some people ordered second round of the oysters - fried oysters, fried smelt and bruschetta. Everything was absolutely delicious. Moved on to the entrees I ordered a baked seafood dish that was swordfish scallops and lobster in a butter sauce unbelievable! People had skewered shrimp and scallops on baby lettuce and scallops risotto... Chef Andrew came out and greeted us. A very personable young man with an obvious talent for exceptional flavor! The owner Dave is a very nice guy who made our meal quite enjoyable. The entire crew will be coming back for more of the delicious food and very enjoyable atmosphere. Thanks again Dave and Andrew!
(5)Brian M.
Great fresh from the ocean oysters, little necks shrimp etc. In quaint setting. Sun - Thurs. Buck , shuck.
(3)J L.
Great rawbar. But avoid the tasteless, gummy clam chowder and other entrees. Also, beware... Even though two of us shared over $35 in appetizers, they insisted on charging a $5 charge for splitting an entree. Never again.
(2)Paul W.
Buck a shuck offers 3 or 4 kinds of fresh oysters at a dollar a shot. how can you beat this deal! They are hand shucked in front of you and purposely prepared on a large bed of crushed ice. The space is very small but also very clean and you feel you are on a beach front bar. The drinks a skillfully prepared and delicious and a decent pour to boot!
(5)Carl M.
This was our first time at Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar and all 6 of us loved our meals. The specials were amazing and my wife really enjoyed her fish and chips. I had the lobster and scallop risotto which is one of the best I have had. The food was delicious, the portions were quite large and drinks were reasonable We will definitely be back.
(5)Michael M.
I've been waiting for the Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar to open (they've been teasing me with signs for months), and couldn't have been more excited the other day when I saw a few people sitting at the bar. Amy and I decided to stop in, and we were really glad we did. It's tiny inside, but they have a really well-appointed (and hand-made, how cool) bar and raw bar. We ordered a couple of dozen oysters and a few drinks. Since it was their soft opening, they didn't yet have a full menu, but I was impressed by the quality and freshness of the oysters (they were all local, and the owner did a great job shucking them, leaving plenty of the liquor). I wish this place the best of luck. EG really needs a quality seafood place, and with my limited experience here, I'm confident that the owner will make good! I'll be back, and I'll be sure to update my review once more people discover this place and the full menu is available. I imagine it's going to get crowded!
(5)Kevin R.
Had a great meal tonight. The service was great and the food was outstanding. Wife had lobster risotto and there was no shortage of lobster. Definitely try the sticky calamari. Only down side was a limited selection of IPA.
(4)Betsy A.
Visited the bar for the first time. We loved the mussels and our bartender , John made sure our oysters were shucked w great skill and ease. Lovely lovely lovely, can't wait to go back. Thank you John for the great service
(5)Rocky T.
Great evening with friends! The three types of Oysters they offered were very tasty. Had to ask for bread, none offered, tables were good for two people, but we were four which made for a very cramped space. All our diner entrees were good, nothing special. Would consider going back for another visit.
(3)Michael L.
Small cozy place for a drink and oysters. If you're not a fan of oysters and raw bar the selections on the regular menu is very limited. My wife loves anything on the half shell so we've been several times, while I really enjoyed the Fish Ruben I wish the menu had some more selections for non-raw bar type food. Easy walking distance from home, we'll be back!
(4)Cristina P.
I had not heard about this cute cozy restaurant until I was given a gift certificate for the Holidays. Small Restaurant about 8 tables and then the bar, service was great even though the bartender was the one serving and making everyone drinks she did a good job and got to everyone just fine! I really enjoyed the food everything was filled with flavor and cooked with love We had the Clams Casino, Shrimp Po Boy and the Paella. Can't wait to go back and bring friends!
(5)Edward L.
Delicious oysters of variety. I take my family there two times last year. I will eat there this weekend. I will recommend it to any friends of mine who love oysters.
(5)Christina R.
Highly recommend! We had family from California visit us in Boston, so we drove down to Providence and ended up here. The service was fabulous (thanks Ian), the place was very cute and the music was perfect. We happened to stumble in during happy hour and had half-priced appetizers, all of which were delicious! Do not leave without trying the fried calamari; this is the best I have ever had. Nice touch with the banana peppers! But, same goes for the oysters, the escargot, the linguini...shall I even go on? Great food, great vibe. Go to Smyle across the street after for some local shopping. Cheers!!
(5)Sonny P.
Great atmosphere, fantastic oysters and the prices aren't as high as most of the seafood restaurants in providence...Highly recommended

In an effort to expand our culinary horizons, and given the opportunity to do so because of East Greenwich Restaurant Week, we went to dinner here last Saturday evening. It's definitely a small space (maybe 7 tables total and about a dozen stools at the bar), and there's no host(ess) stand at the entry, which can be confusing when first arriving, but the staff were friendly and said we could sit anywhere we pleased. Since we were the only patrons there, which in and of itself worried us a bit, we chose a table by the window. Anyway we perused the regular menu and were told about the restaurant week menu and opted to go with the 3 course RW option. However, we were definitely interested in items on the regular menu, but figured we'd try them another time. So my wife had the caesar salad and I had the stuffies for appetizers; the salad was fine, the stuffies were good. For entrees, I had the baked stuffed shrimp and my wife had the scallops. We had a choice of sides, which was nice (I had french fries and she had mashed potatoes). Both entrees were also good. Dessert was a fried twinkie. . . tasty if you're into deep-fried things, but I could see how it might not float everyone's boat. Overall we were pleased with our dining experience. Service was friendly and efficient and prices were reasonable (yes, we were there for RW, but the menu prices looked reasonable as well). We both said we would like to return to try other menu items. The place did fill up rather quickly while we were there, and I'm not sure if they take reservations, so we'll be sure to get there early next time we decide to go.

I've been back to Greenwich Bay twice since my last review and I'm happy to say that they have definitely stepped up their game. Better selection of oysters, great food, attentive service. Worth a try if you're looking for something other than the usual EG Main Street haunts.

I've been to Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar several times since my last review and can't wait to go back and try more dishes. The crab cakes are huge and chock full of crab, the clams are super fresh, drinks are delicious (and dangerous! they blueberry lemonade goes down way to easy), and the waitstaff are super friendly and courteous, and attentive.
(5)Lauren S.
Excellent service and great food! Can't wait to go when I am not pregnant so I can partake in the raw bar which looks so fresh and delicious!
(5)Kimberly S.
I was extremely impressed with the food and the service here. The portions are huge I would recommend sharing. I was even happier when I saw they have allagash white on tap! Can't wait to go back again!

This place is awesome. I brought my boss here and we got quite the education on Oysters from the knowledgeable and pleasant bartender, Kim. Jess was our server and was outstanding and very personable. The oysters were delicious. I got the fish and chips and the fish was the size of a whale....I did not leave hungry. My boss got a salmon special with home made sesame sauce....to die for. I will be back every time I drive through the area. Thanks again to Kim and Jess for making it a memorable experience.
(5)Erika V.
food is to die for! a little on the pricey side ($10 oyster shooters) but worth every penny. i'd recommend the Mexican oyster shooters (made with tequila instead of vodka), the pan seared scallops, paella, and, of course, the oysters. very cute spot in EG and great atmosphere.

Excellent meal. So-so service. My husband and I dined here on a Saturday night. They do not take reservations so we took our chances and entered the restaurant around 730. We were greeted right away and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Unfortunately, we also had to wait about 10 more minutes until someone brought us menus! We ordered several selections from the raw bar, and also started with the crab cakes. Both were outstanding! Our server was young, and it seems as though perhaps it was her first night waiting tables. She was very apologetic and the manager checked in often to make sure we were happy customers. I think she forgot that we had not ordered dinner yet so I had to ask if we could order our entrees. My husband had the baked stuffed shrimp and I had a scallop and lobster risotto dish. Everything on both dishes was excellent! If the service has been a little bit better this would have been a 5-star review. We will definitely be back again!

This place has terrible customer service!! Way too small for its own good... walked in and no one greeted us at the door so walked over to this small, I mean small, high top table. Waited there for ten minutes and no one even acknowledged us. We had a server pass us three times and they didn't even look at us. The bar tender asked a couple who walked in after us and was standing next to us if they wanted a drink but never asked us. Got up to leave and still nothing. Clearly if you are not from RI you do not belong at this resturant.

Friday date night landed us at Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar. A very intimate restaurant, I want to say there were about 10 tables. Lucky for us we got a table right away. We started off with an order of the stuffies. They were delicious, just the right mixture of breading and clams with a a subtle kick of spice. They were so delicious I could have eaten two! For dinner I got the baked stuffed shrimp with half mashed potatoes. The shrimp was a little on the dry side, but was delicious. The breading was amazing, although I wished i had a little butter to dip it in. The half mashed was delicious, i love my mashed potatoes with a little texture, they had some of the potato skin mixed in there as well. I cleaned my plate, but was completely full after doing so. Service was wonderful, our waitress was very attentive and very sweet. Everything on the menu was right up my alley, so I will be back for sure!

I definitely agree with what many others wrote - this place opened up too early. I can understand wanting to make some money as long as you are paying a huge Main Street EG rent, but they are clearly in their "shake down" period. Waitress knew very little. When asked if a particular drink was made with vodka or gin, she came back a full fifteen minutes later with her answer. Wine pour was small. My clam dish (steamed clams with chorico in broth) was really not too bad - it was very spicy due to the chorico, so I should have expected it. I enjoyed the broth part of the dish, which came accompanied by two tiny hard "toast points" but I was hungry so I ate them. I also had a salad which was billed as being dressed with a sundried tomato dressing (which I just wasn't in the mood for). The waitress said that was the only dressing they served other than the caesar dressing for the caesar salad, so I opted for that. The salad was good, but there was no dressing ON IT. It came accompanied by a little container of very very very thick dressing, supposedly caesar, and I could not see how a caesar salad could possibly have been served with this. But it tasted ok, and I dipped my salad into the dressing. My husband ordered a shellfish over pasta dish. The shellfish was delicious (he shared some with me) and fresh. The sauce on the pasta was quite pedestrian. He took half the pasta home and forgot to eat it. We decided against dessert, and paid the bill and left, thinking that most likely we would not be going back, which is kind of sad. It's always great to see a new restaurant open on Main St in EG, our backyard, and we are always looking to dash out for a bite to eat at a restaurant in that area because of the convenience. But this little place (about 7-8 tables plus the bar) is not one which is the "just hop on over" type of place because the food is not inexpensive, the service is,at the current time, poor, and there were just not that many things on the menu that we would find appealing enough to warrant a return trip. But I never say never, so if I return, I'll be sure to Yelp some more on the Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar!
(2)Lynn C.
Wow! Went for lunch, will definitely be back for dinner! We had great service and great food! The clams casino were clearly fresh and made to order- not dried out as they are at many places. We also split a nice, fresh caesar salad. We loved both sandwiches- a fried fish reuben and a shrimp poor boy. Just a great place!!
(5)Cristina V.
Went for the oysters. Definitely a hit! Great seafood at a great price. The service was way above par.
(4)Meggan A.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. My husband and I went for the first time tonight with our two year old son (but went early) and though the vibe is more upscale and adult-friendly we were never given a second glance and were treated with nothing but respect by the entire staff. It is a welcome addition to the East Greenwich restaurant scene.
(5)Sally B.
Loved the atmosphere - small, cozy, clean, friendly. The food & drinks were really good. My only feedback is on the crab cake. While really good, it needed more crispiness. However, that's my personal preference.
(4)Taylor V.
We fell upon the Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar the other night while on Main Street. We love intimate restuarants so this looked like a great spot. We found a booth by the window which was nice and cozy (usually window seats are cold!). The music was great - classic jams mixed in with a few love songs, very cute for a date spot. Unfortunately, a lot of the items we wanted to order from both the wine list and raw bar were "out". Rather than tell us what they'd run out of, we kept ordering what we wanted only for the server to tell us it wasn't available. A bit frustrating when you are an oyster bar and don't have any. The white wine was served in a red wine glass - there are two separate glasses for a reason. We ordered the calamari pizza which was surprisingly delicious and some cherrystones which was all that was left from the raw bar. Service was ok, we would have liked more insight from our server. A gentlemen wearing a chef coat was wandering around the dining room and to our disgust, was brushing his shoulder length hair right there in front of us. Luckily we were finished with our meals and drinks because we grabbed the tab and left immediately. Not very appetizing to see the chef and/or cook walking around the dining room letting his hair down and brushing it. Disappointed in the service but the pizza was an interesting twist on calamari. Not sure if we will consider going back or not.

Nice decor, cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. Will be back for sure.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER! Let me just start and say we were so excited to see an Oyster Bar open up in EG! The place is cute, very nice ambiance. Small and cozy. We got there around 6:00PM on a Sunday night. There was no hostess, but the bartender acknowledged us right away and told us we could sit anywhere. We were a party of four. We chose a seat by the window. The bartender brought over our menus and said she would be over with our water. So far so good! When she came back we asked for a Wine List. She stated there was none, but it was being printed that night. It seems this place has been open for at least a month and not having a Wine List is not good business. At least type one out and tell customers one is being printed. The bartender told us what wines they had and we each ordered a glass. OK...By now a few tables filled up. There was ONE person working! No waitress, just the bartender! She was obviously taking care of her full bar, as a bartender should! The other patrons did not look happy. On to the oysters.....there were two kinds:(( Hopefully they will carry more, as two is not acceptable for an Oyster Bar! By now a gentleman showed up behind the bar. He did a very good job of shucking our oysters in fast time. They oysters were good, but they did not give us utensil to serve the cocktail sauce. A small issue. We ordered Calamari and were told they were out of Calamari:( We ordered Mussels instead. The bartender came back a while later and told us they were out of Mussels, but now have Calamari. Hmm....The Calamari was very good, and plated nicely, but the order was rather small for the money. By this time we were ready for another round of drinks. We practically had to beg to get them! Our water was long gone and the gentleman who shucked our oysters brought water over to the table next to us, but did not fill ours. The menu was small, but looked OK. We decided to order two grilled pizza's, as we were enjoying trying a few different things. 45 minutes later, yes 45 minutes, we were still waiting for our pizzas! We were out of water, our drink glasses were long empty, and we had not seem the bartender/waitress in that 45 minutes! Totally not acceptable! My husband went up to the bar and asked for the check. This is when we were told our pizza's were coming out. Ten minutes later and we were still waiting for our bill. The gentleman who shucked our oysters was going in and out of the building. He walked by us and we asked to speak to the owner. He WAS the owner. He asked how everything was. We told him we waited 45 minutes for our pizza and the service was not good. He told us he had problems with the kitchen equipment. No "I am sorry" The bartender/waitress did not once come over to tell us there was "trouble with the kitchen" or apologize for our poor service. One would have thought they would have at least offered the pizza for free. Offered a free round of drinks. ANYTHING to make us HAPPY! But, NOPE! Nothing! I agree with the person who said this place opened too early, There are way too many issues that they need to address before they end up going out of business. And at this rate, that is just where they are headed.
